How it started?

After the Cleaning Day of the Teeme Ära 2008 on May 3 2008, the tired but happy organisational team gathered by the Lake Võrtsjärv for the summer days. We made conclusions and it seemed that nothing so big and new will be made in the near future but due to the nice company and enthusiasm ideas started to evolve.

By lunch on the second day the team was split into two groups, the first group’s topic was happiness and the well-being of people. They wanted to make all people in Estonia happy. The other group began to discuss the nature friendly lifestyle. So it began that one group started the project “Rattarikkaks” and the other group founded the Bank of Happiness.

The foundation documents of the bank were signed by a large part of the Teeme Ära team and the creation of the bank started. The idea of the Bank of Happiness has been so encouraging that practically every day there are new people wanting to contribute to the implementation of the idea.
“To make all people happy!” is the vision and the main goal of the Bank of Happiness written down in the foundation documents of the Bank.

It seemed to us, the people who joined the Bank of Happiness, that there has been a gap in the society between the feeling of identity, caring and economical well-being. We are convinced that the formula of happiness lies in helping others. We feel that people want to help others but often don’t know how. On the other hand we also know that there are people who need help in solving their daily problems and questions but don’t know whom to address. From this point the idea arose to bring these two parties together.

Right at the start we found the name for our project – the Bank of Happiness – which gave the structure to the idea.
As a result of a thorough “financial analysis” it was discovered that a good deed is a good deed and every good deed is worth  one Star of Gratitude. And so the principles were written down and the Bank of Happiness begins to take its shape.
